The Wakefield Special Education P.A.C will be sponsoring a Basic Rights in Special Education workshop on Monday, January 31 in the WHS Cafeteria from 7:00- 9:00pm, with featured guest speaker Attorney Elaine Cocroft. Attorney Cocroft is an Educational Advocate/Attorney who specializes in Disability Law. This workshop provides families with an introduction to their rights and responsibilities under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), Massachusetts Special Education Law and No Child Left Behind (NCLB). It is designed to help parents learn how to be effective partners with their child's school, to decide the child's eligibility for special education, and to plan, make decisions, and monitor their child's progress in school. This workshop will include a question and answer period and it is free and open to the public. For further information, contact Janine Cook at detwin@rcn.com
