Join reference librarian Jeff Klapes, the “Traveling Librarian”, for another in his series of popular travel lectures focusing this time on photographs and stories of Puerto Rico, and a discussion of the geography and culture of that beautiful
island.
The program will take place Tuesday, August 21, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. in the Lecture Hall. Sign up online to reserve your seat. You can also sign up in person at the Reference Desk, by phone at 781-246-6334 ext.2, or by e-mail at email@wakefieldlibrary.org.
Puerto Rico is a fascinating place - part of America and heavily influenced by its culture and economy, but still very much independent in spirit, in language and its own traditional culture. The Traveling Librarian will take you on a journey through the much visited historic capital of old San Juan, and also around the island to many interesting and beautiful locations that are off the beaten track for most visitors. You’ll visit the mountainous and isolated interior, hike the island’s many rain forest reserves, see the sunny southern coast and its main city, Ponce, and even the Arecibo radio telescope, the largest of its kind in the world.
