District School Councils combine forces

All of the School Councils in the Wakefield Public School District will meet together this week as a unified whole. Each school in the district has an elected School Council comprised of faculty and parents (and the high school includes student representatives) who work with the school principal on improving our schools. In this combined gathering on Wednesday evening, we will talk about our school district's core values and review our first year full year with our new bullying policy and protocols. A highlight of the evening will be a presentation by the WHS Diversity Leaders, a group of student leaders who lead educational workshops for their younger peers in school to help them understand the impact of stereotypes, bullying, and discriminatory language on their community. The Diversity Leaders will engage the School Councils in several of the activities that they use to promote a safe and accepting environment for learning.
