Wakefield Repertory Youth Theatre Auditions

Wakefield Repertory Youth Theatre is pleased to announce
auditions for its summer program, The
Prince and the Pauper.
  Wakefield
Repertory Youth Theatre is a six-week theater camp for students entering grade 5 to 9.  The camp is designed to teach children about the joy of theater while putting together a spectacular musical theater production.

Auditions for The Prince and the Pauper will be
held at Wakefield-Lynnfield United Methodist Church 273 Vernon St, Wakefield MA 01880 on Monday, June 11 and Wednesday, June 13 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm, with callbacks on Thursday, June 14 at 4:00pm.
All students are encouraged to audition. No prior theater experience is necessary. Any student who auditions and wishes to participate in the production will be cast. Casting decisions are based on talent, regardless of
age, gender or previous participation in the program. Students are only required to attend one audition day, and not all students are needed for callbacks. No preparation is needed; students will be taught an audition song
and dance at auditions.  All roles are open. As in the past, we anticipate double casting leading roles & “cross-casting” females in male roles where appropriate, creating even more opportunities to shine for our students!

The program runs from June 25th until the production goes
up with four performances on August 2-4th, 2012. The camp hours are generally Monday-Friday from 8am-2:00pm, except during the last two weeks. The daily
program is held at the Melrose Veterans Memorial Middle School’s air-conditioned and state-of-the-art auditorium. In addition to rehearsing the show, students participate in warm-ups, team building exercises, arts related
activities and a series of workshops led by staff and guest artists and speakers.

The cost of the summer program is $775 per student, with a $20 discount for current WRT members. This fee includes tuition, annual WRT membership dues and a t-shirt. For two or more siblings, a $100 discount is offered for the second (or more) child. A $50 non-refundable deposit is required at the time of auditions (made payable to WRT); no child will be allowed to audition without a deposit.
Payment in full is due by the parents’ meeting/ ice cream social which is scheduled for June 21 at 6:30pm at the Wakefield-Lynnfield United Methodist Church. A limited number of full and partial scholarships are available for
those who qualify.  It is the sincere intent of Wakefield Repertory Theatre that no student who might benefit from
participation in the program be excluded for purely financial reasons.  Please note that the deadline for need-based scholarships is June 1.
