Fire Incidents:
On Feb. 21 at 9:55 a.m., the Wakefield Fire Department responded to 20 Woodbury Rd. for a call reporting a strong odor of gas inside the residence. It appeared that one of the burners on the stove had been left on. Firefigters shut off the burner and ventilated the hallways.
On Feb 25 at 3:36 p.m., Wakefield firefighters responded to Reading to provide mutual aid to the Reading department for a 2-alarm blaze at a West St. residence. The fire began when there was no one home, and the apparent cause of the fire was "misuse of smoking materials," according to . The Wakefield Fire Department provided support as a rapid response intervention team, and helped with venting the second floor of the home from smoke. Lt. Kevin Carney, Fireighter Dave Shinney, and firefighter Gary Hill respondedto the fire in Engine 2.

On Feb. 27 at 8:54 p.m., Wakefield firefighters responded to 3 Border Street for a report of a carbon monoxide hazard. When firefighters arrived, they recorded a carbon monoxide level of 40 parts per million, which is not considered imminently life-threatening, but still dangerous. The homeowners told fire officials that they had just pulled their car into their garage and it had been running for a little while before being shut off.
