Galvin Middle School Mini-Food Pantry Opens for 2024-25 School Year
The Galvin Mini-Pantry Assists Students Who Need Nutritious Food After School

The Galvin Middle School’s Mini-Food Pantry (GMFP) is open for the 2024-2025 academic year. Launched in the Fall of 2023 in collaboration with the Wakefield Food Pantry (WFP), the goal of the Galvin Mini-Pantry is to assist the many students who rely on free school breakfast and lunches, but who may not have access to an adequate supply of nutritious food for after school, on the weekends or when school is not in session. The GMFP offers free, kid friendly, non-perishable food options to students who can shop for food in a discrete manner. The Galvin pantry is open to ALL Wakefield Public School students and their families.
To keep the Galvin Mini-Pantry stocked, WFP is seeking donations of pasta, sauce, rice, soup, and cereal boxes, along with microwavable meals including Easy Mac, pasta meals, soups, and oatmeal which are in high demand. Nut-free individual serving sizes of kid friendly snacks such as granola bars, gold fish, and pretzels are welcome. Food donations can be dropped off at any of these locations:
- The lower level of the Americal Civic Center, 467 Main Street
- Beebe Library (Avon St. side)
- Shaw’s Supermarket, 134 Water Street
- St. Joseph Church Foyer
- Wakefield Town Hall
- The Savings Bank (Lakeside)
This school year, the WFP is also working with Wakefield High School (WHS) administration to open a mini-pantry at the high school.

In addition to the mini-pantries, WFP provides a supplemental Snack Program to Galvin and Wakefield High students that augments the free lunch program, which is helpful especially when students need extra sustenance during the afterschool hours.
