Welcome to my blog written especially for youth, high school and college athletes (you adults may also want to read this!).
Each entry will provide you with very necessary information to help you perform well, stay healthy and avoid injuries.
Today, we will talk about water.
Hydration is extremely important. You muscles are comprised of 60% water and if that percentage drops, you are setting yourself up for injury.
Let me ask a question. Would you rather have your muscles be like a dry sponge that can tear and rip apart easily or would you rather have your muscles be like a wet sponse? A wet sponge can be twisted, dropped, thrown against the way and nothing happens.
Well, to keep your muscles like a wet sponge, you need to drink lots of water every day.
Here is how you figure how much you need.
Divide your body weight in half. Now add 20 points to that number. That is how much water you need every day. Here's an example:
You weight 180 lbs. 1/2 that is 90. Add 20 more and you need 110 ounces of water every day.
I suggest you get yourself a good non GMO bottle and carry it will you all day. Depending on how much it holds, you will know how many times each day you need to fill it.
Go get a drink of water now.
