It’s a New Year for the Wakefield Sons and Daughters of Italy
Lodge news and ways to get warm this winter
Wakefield can be bitterly cold in January! The Wakefield Sons & Daughters of Italy have a few ideas on how you can keep warm until spring. Cooking and baking keep a person in motion, which is warming. Add in a hot oven and stove, and it totals one warm and cozy situation. Another idea is to take up knitting or crocheting blankets. Sitting with a work-in-progress on your lap can be very toasty. Some pets can be an excellent source of warmth. One final thought is to find someone whom you care about and are sure does not have a contagious virus and give them a long, warm hug.
We recently heard some exciting news from one of our scholarship recipients, Lizzy Finn. Lizzy recently graduated from Suffolk University a semester early! She put her degree in political science and internship experiences to work immediately. Lizzy is now a legislative aid for Representative Steven Ultrino, a Malden democrat. We are proud to learn this and wish her a successful career.
If you haven’t added our Annual Charity Auction to your calendar, now is the time to write it in on April 19, 2022. It will be held at St. Joseph’s parish hall in Wakefield. Further details about dinner and reserving tickets will be published as the event gets closer. It’s events like this that allow us to give out scholarships to graduating high school seniors each year.
