July 27 Market Day

The weather for Saturday, July 27 is predicted to be a beautiful one! As always, the market will be full of freshly picked fruits, veggies, locally raised meats, out of this world dairy, and specialty foods you won’t find on the supermarket shelf. Plus cut flowers, local artisans, kid activities and more. The Wakefield Farmers Market takes place at Hall Park (next to Veterans Field, GPS 468 North Ave Wakefield MA) each Saturday through October 12, 2019.

Justina Langone, owner of The Remedy Exchange, located at 41 Tuttle St, Wakefield will be guest chef in our Market Kitchen Tent. Justina will be preparing a delicious and healthy dish using produce chosen that morning from our farmers. Yarrow, our magical and trusty balloon twisting artist will be here. Kayla Russell is back this week, creating beautiful henna tattoos. As always, have hula hoops, sidewalk chalk, and jump ropes on hand for kids of all ages, and the Kid’s Activity tent will be set up and stocked with plenty of paper, crayons, as well.

Our nonprofit guest, Sustainable Wakefield will be sharing information on a variety of sustainability topics, including renewable energy, plastics use, and recycling.

We also welcome Wakefield Town Council members who will be here answering questions and offering voter registration.

Now, here’s what you’ve been waiting for – the official list of week’s vendors!

Produce: Along with plenty of in-season summer produce, all our farmers offer something special. Farmer Dave’s will have their amazing potted plants. Tomatoes for days! Stop by Fay Mountain Farm’s booth and grab a few of their famous zucchini. Kelly’s Farm will have their gorgeous fresh cut flower bouquets. Flats Mentor Farm is stocked with specialty Asian greens and herbs. Try the water spinach!

Pasture-raised Meats, Poultry, and Eggs: Lilac Hedge Farm will have all you need for locally raised meats, and poultry. Try their farm fresh eggs.

Seafood: Roberto’s Seafood will have plenty of fresh seafood on hand. You can even pre-order and have it ready for you at the market. Call Roberto’s Seafood for details. Never disappoints!

Cheese: West River Creamery. Along with the very best cheese, Jane will also have her delightful pickled produce and mustards. Try the blue cheese, you won’t be sorry.

Maple: Wakefield’s own Single Barrel Cellar will have their delicious pure maple syrup.

Specialty Foods: Deano's Pasta delicious fresh pasta. Fork on the Road brings vegetarian and vegan Market Day Meal Kits, inspired by the local harvest and Suman’s global pantry that include ingredients sourced direct from local producers. Plus her homemade spice blends, unique chutneys and snacks. Habibi Gourmet Food (Mediterranean fare), the best authentic, Egyptian and Lebanese food. Halvah Heaven Award-winning tahini based candy that is loaded with protein and calcium.

Baked Goods: Goodies Homemade (the scones are the best), Swiss Bakers (try the Berliner!), The Bread Shop will have their famous cinnamon rolls, and The Roasted Granola, with the best granola you’ve ever tasted.

Beverages: Aaronap Cellars (wine) are showcasing the best in Northeast wine making. Tower Beverages will have their craft soda (the best ginger ale). Pour Man’s Coffee is here, too, with the BEST ice coffee and other beverages, plus treats to enjoy at the market. They also sell Fair Trade coffee beans from Dean’s Beans to take home..

Pet Treats: Emmett’s Edibles, with healthy treats for your canine and feline friends.

Artisans: B Organics, is back with 100% organic cotton produce bags. Keeps your farmers market fruits and veggies fresher longer! Sheepshed Mountain View Farm, specializing in their own line of Tencel/Merino, Coopworth, Columbia, Silks, Angora rabbit and goat, creating fantastic spinning yarns. Ugly Baby Soap Company is back with their gentle handmade soaps and salves. Alison Simcox and Doug Heath with their books about Lake Quannapowitt, Breakheart, and recent award winner, The Fellsway.

The market offers "Market Bucks" that can be purchased for use with vendors via credit/debit cards or SNAP/EBT and will again be matching SNAP purchases up to $10 per visit so that everyone can afford to get fresh and healthy foods at our market. Plus, for SNAP folks: HIP is back! Use your EBT card to shop with Farmer Dave’s first, then get your additional SNAP market bucks and match at the Market Manager Tent.
