Lakeside Inn Fire Damages 4 Rooms, Injures One

Police responded to a two-alarm fire at the Lakeside Inn Monday.

WAKEFIELD, MA—Wakefield and area firefighters responded to a two-alarm fire at the Lakeside Inn at 595 North Avenue in Wakefield Monday.

Wakefield Fire Chief Michael Sullivan told Patch that firefighters reported to the scene after multiple alerts from a 9-1-1 call, the building’s alarm system and a call from a central station. Sullivan also told patch that the fire was caused by a plumbing torch used while plumbers working in the building were soldering pipe.

The fire started in the walls of a room on the first floor, and extended to the second floor. Sullivan told Patch that firefighters were fortunate that the blaze did not extend tot he attic.

Two rooms on the first and second floors each were damaged due to the fire, and the entire hotel had minimal smoke damage.

One of the plumbers working on the building suffered second-degree burns while attempting to open the wall in which the blaze had started.
