Local Author Talk by Stephen Puleo
This event is being hosted by the Wakefield Sons & Daughters of Italy.

Most people in the Boston area know there was a “Great Molasses Flood” in the early 1900s. It was tragic and destructive. But who knows where the molasses came from? And why was there so much that it caused damage? Was it really tragic or just messy? In Stephen Puleo’s book, Dark Tide, this local author (historian and public speaker) explains how molasses was actually a big business at that time and why. He paints a picture of the North End and its residents back then, so readers understand how their lives were forever changed by this event. Those who survived it, that is.
Here's some exciting news: the Wakefield Lodge will be hosting Stephen Puleo as a speaker in Wakefield on May 12, 2026.
