Marie McNamee Announces 'Meet and Greet' Dates

New Woodville School principal appeared before the School Committee on Tuesday night, where she expressed her excitement to be a part of the Wakefield school community, and also announced the dates of her planned meet and greets for Woodville School families.

“I have been meeting a lot of wonderful and very supportive people who have been helping me get acclimated to my new school community and again I am absolutely thrilled to be here in Wakefield and I want to thank you all tonight for making this transition so positive for me,” McNamee said to the School Committee.

McNamee has scheduled the meet and greets to get to know the school community better. The meet and greets will be held on Monday, Aug. 22, with each grade level having its own at some point during the day.

“Not only can they meet me and get acquainted but they can also meet some of their new classmates,” McNamee said.

For new families, McNamee has also scheduled building tours, which will be conducted on Wednesday, Aug. 24 and Thursday, Aug. 25.

Before being hired to be the new Woodville School principal, McNamee spent seven years serving as an assistant principal at both the Rita Edwards Miller School and the Norman E. Day School in Westford. Prior to that, she spent four years as an assistant principal in the Pentucket Regional School district, and before that was an elementary school teacher in Lowell for 13 years.

Superintendent Joan Landers called McNamee “a very positive addition to our school community.” Members of the School Committee echoed that sentiment, noting that since taking the job, she has worked tirelessly to prepare the Woodville School for the coming year.
