- Two National Grid crews will continue with duct bank installation between New Salem Street and Lowell Street.
- No through-traffic between Lowell Street and New Salem Street; residential and emergency vehicle traffic facilitated by police detail.
- A third crew is working adjacent to Chapman Road. Work will move in the direction of the I-95 ramps.
- A two-way alternating traffic pattern will be in place around this work site.
- Construction crews plan to extend their work on Salem Street through close of business on Saturday, October 10 (barring inclement weather and pending the availability of police details).
Wharton Park:
- On Wednesday, October 5, Wharton Park will be closed to all through-traffic. Residents and visitors should use Lowell Street as an alternative route.
- Immediate residential and emergency vehicles will have access to the street facilitated by police detail.
Once all project construction is complete, the project route will be repaved, curb-to-curb, at National Grid’s expense. This includes sections of Albion Street, Broadway Street, North Avenue, Main Street, Salem Street, and Montrose Avenue as well as street crossings at Bennett Street, Richardson Street, and Water Street.
National Grid has re-sequenced their construction schedule in order to provide residents a respite from ongoing construction. All road plates have been removed from Montrose Avenue. Excavation and duct bank installation on the street will resume in late fall or early winter.
