New England Championship Wrestling Celebrates Its 17th Anniversary, Saturday, September 9 at the Americal Civic Center

Long-time local pro organization celebrates a milestone in Wakefield on September 9th/

An impressive legacy continues as New England Championship Wrestling (NECW) presents BASH 17, its 17th anniversary spectacular, Saturday night, September 9th at the Americal Civic Center, 467 Main Street, Wakefield, MA with a 7 PM bell time.

The locally-based pro wrestling organization has been putting on matched throughout New England since 2000 and has not only provided area fans with up-close, high impact action, but had helped to launch the careers of numerous big name stars.

Promoter Sheldon Goldberg says, "NECW was started at a time when the idea of a local wrestling promotion was a relatively new one. We used primarily local talent, and our goal was to be your friendly neighborhood wrestling promotion where you come to cheer your local favorites and boo the villains in an up close and intimate setting."

Eschewing big name headliners, Goldberg's concept was unusual at the time. "My feeling was if you throw the younger more deserving guys into the pool and based the show around them, the better ones would swim and provide fans with an interesting experience," said Goldberg, whose came to pro wrestling after a career as a live theater producer and press agent.

Loads of major wrestling stars including numerous world champions and international stars wrestled in NECW before becoming famous. Names like John Cena, Finn Balor, Becky Lynch, Kofi Kingston, Sasha Banks, Eddie Edwards, Beth Phoenix and many others plied their trade in an NECW ring.

As for BASH 17, Goldberg promises and exciting night of action. "We have a really great roster right now, with some talent that you will probably end up seeing on national TV a few years from now."

A rundown of the BASH 17 matches follows:

In the main event, the held up NECW Heavyweight Championship will be decided in an epic showdown between "Pure Talent" Chris Escobar and Todo Loco in a Last Man Standing Match. Anything goes in this match up that can only be decided when one man is unable to answer the count of 10.

New NECW Tag Team Champions, Kool People defend their newly won belts in a rematch with #1 Contenders, Adrenaline Rush.

New NECW Television Champion, "The Funny Man" Devin Blaze defends against former champion "The Heat" Kris Pyro in a "Last Laugh Match."

In other bouts, "Mr. Marketable" Richard Holliday faces former 3 time NECW Champion, Slyck Wagner Brown. Former Champion, Brad Hollister battles Anthony Stone. "Sensational" Scott Levesque takes on Big Jym Anderson, and Kid Curry returns to action taking on Ty Shine.

Plus The Powerplex Girls, Adira and Isana along with Amanda Fox and Tequila Rose go at it in a Fatal 4 Way Elimination Match! Card is subject to change.
