Northeast Voke's Scott Peary Named MIAA Student of the Month
Peary excels in football, basketball, and in the classroom.

Scott Peary, a senior at Northeast Vocational High School, has been elected as the recipient of the MIAA Student-Athlete of the Month Award for February.
A member of the football, basketball and outdoor track teams at Northeast Metropolitan Regional Vocational High School, Scott is known as a player who leads by example. He was selected as captain of three sports, a direct reflection of the confidence his coaches and teammates have in him as a leader.
Scott capped off his football career by rushing for 100 yards and scoring three touchdowns in the Massachusetts Vocational Athletic Directors Association (M.V.A.D.A) championship game, leading to the program’s first Vocational Super Bowl championship. “Scott was instrumental in our culture change,” said head football coach and athletic director, Don Heres. “He was a leader in all off-season activities and was particularly supportive and encouraging to the underclassmen.”

Scott was named Co-MVP of the Commonwealth Conference and named both a Boston Globe and Boston Herald All-Scholastic. This winter Scott averaged over 15 points per game for the Northeast basketball team. "Scott was never about numbers, he was all about the team. As team captain, Scott led his peers with the finest example of playing every second of every minute with passion, desire, hustle, and commitment,” said basketball coach, Keith Leavitt.
Academically, Scott has earned a 94.2 Grade Point Average and remains one of the top plumbing students in the school. He has been working at North Shore Mechanical Contractors, Inc. in Danvers as his co-op job, where his employer is consistently delighted with his performance. Scott is an active participant in the Northeast Metro Class of 2017 activities and events.

“Vocational school student-athletes have an extra challenge in that they are not representing just one community but many,” said Principal Carla Scuzzarella. “Playing a sport, let alone being a three-sport athlete, at a vocational high school requires great commitment, passion and determination. Scott demonstrates all of those characteristics and more.”
