Odyssey Community Service Club raises funds for hurricane victims
The ODSCSC students recently planned and ran a project in which they baked and sold goodies to benefit the South Florida Wildlife Center
The members of the Odyssey Day School Community Service Club (ODSCSC) recently planned and implemented a project in which they decided they wanted to help animals and people who were helping animals who had been hurt by the recent hurricanes, and in researching options decided to raise funds to support the South Florida Wildlife Center, the nation's largest animal rescue and rehabilitation center, which had suffered over $350,000 of damage in Hurricane Irma and had taken in injured animals in an outdoor, make-shift emergency room after the storm before it was able to safely re-open its building and start operations in its normal facilities again.
The students baked a variety of cookies, brownies, and muffins, including gluten free options, on two Wednesdays in November, and held a Bake Sale on Wednesday evening November 8th and Thursday afternoon November 16, at which they traded their baked goods for any donation a person was willing to give.
The students raised a total of $271.81 which will all be donated directly to the South Florida Wildlife Center. The check for that donation will be mailed in a package created by the students this Wednesday, November 29, along with the cards and pictures that the students have made for the staff of the South Florida Wildlife Center and copies of photos of the students working on the bake sale for the SFWC to have for their offices.

The students will then have a celebration and reflection on the project and what they learned and accomplished at their meeting on December 6.
