Can Beverly Reverse Score and Beat Wakefield?

The 18-8 loss to Wakefield just three weeks ago proves Beverly needs dramatic improvement.

The players will be the same, but what about the final score?

Tournament games often bring together teams with little experience playing against each other. But in the Division 2 North boys' lacrosse final Saturday, opponents Beverly and Wakefield know exactly what they're getting into. On May 18, Wakefield beat Beverly 18-8, the Warriors 16th straight win on the way to an 18-0 regular season. On Saturday at 6 p.m. at Concord-Carlisle, Wakefield wants more of the same. Beverly needs something to change.

Senior All-American Austin Collard scored seven goals for Wakefield in the win and comes into the North final with 88 goals and 31 assists. No. 3 seed Beverly (12-9) took an early 2-0 lead in that matchup but by halftime was down 9-4. The Panthers need to get off to a fast start again Saturday but not let Collard take over, something that's easier said than done.
