One Officer Promoted, One Hired at Wakefield Police Department

Officer Geoffrey Eriksen was promoted to the rank of sergeant and Joseph Lyons was sworn in as the department's newest patrol officer.

One Wakefield Police officer was promoted and another new officer was hired on June 27th, according to the Wakefield Police Department. 

Officer Geoffrey Eriksen was promoted to the rank of sergeant and Joseph Lyons was sworn in as the department’s newest patrol officer. 

Eriksen, a 5-year veteran of the force was promoted as the result of an opening created by the recent retirement of another sergeant.

Lyons, who most recently worked as an officer for the Nahant Police Department filled an open patrol slot created by the funding of two School Resource Officers positions. Both will be assigned to the night patrol shift.

The ceremony was held at the Wakefield Police station and attended by many of the officers’ family and friends. The oath of office was administered by Town Clerk Mary Galvin.
