Kate Lipper-Garabedian, Candidate for State Representative, Middlesex 32nd District

Next week, on Tuesday, February 4, voters in Malden, Melrose, and Wakefield will have the opportunity to vote for a candidate to represent them in the Massachusetts House of Representatives. I humbly ask for your support in the Democratic primary. My professional experiences – including as a former seventh grade public school teacher and now as a Melrose City Councilor-at-Large and the Chief Legal Counsel at the Massachusetts Executive Office of Education – give me a skillset that will enable me to hit the ground running.

In the weeks since I pulled my nomination papers, I walked every neighborhood in the District, personally visiting nearly 2,000 voters at just under 1,000 doors. (A fully volunteer campaign, friends and family helped me reach more than 5,000 additional voters at your homes!) I am so appreciative of your willingness to greet me and share your ideas. I met with Mayors Christenson and Brodeur and Town Manager Maio; reached out to every School Committee and City/Town Council member; and participated in each public forum to which I’ve been invited. I’m thrilled to have received, to date, the endorsements of the Environmental League of Massachusetts as well as former Melrose Mayors Dolan and Infurna; Melrose City Council President Grigoraitis and Councilors Eccles, Migliorelli, Cinella, McNaught, Stewart, and Thomas; Melrose School Committee members McAndrew, Obremski, and Razi-Thomas; Malden Ward 5 School Committee Member Weldai; Malden Councillor-at-Large DeMaria; and former Melrose City Councilors Zwirko, Lemmerman, Wright, Boisselle, Mortimer, and Forbes. During this time, many neighbors, friends, and family members have lent their time and energy to support the campaign, and I am grateful for their encouragement and enthusiasm.

As your State Representative, I will serve our District as an accessible, responsive, and effective advocate, always mindful of the responsibility you have placed in me. I will prioritize the issues that matter to you such as our schools, the public transportation system, the climate crisis, and affordability including for our aging and veteran neighbors. Through it all, I will remain committed to ensuring you have a voice on Beacon Hill, providing frequent updates on social media and a comprehensive newsletter and joining you in the community so that you can weigh in on the decisions being made. I believe passionately about the role government can play in improving the lives of people and their families and that your involvement must be part of that process.
