Photo Gallery: Dellanno, Doherty Lead Wakefield Boys Lacrosse Past Malden

It was a big day for the Warrior offense on Thursday, as the Wakefield High boys lacorsse team beat visiting Malden, 19-1, to open the season. 

Ryan Doherty had a monster game for Wakefield, racking up six goals and an assist while Mike Dellanno was equaally impressive with four goals and three assists and Alec Brown had three goals and one assist. 

"Overall the kids played a great complete game," said head coach Eric Gobiel. "We have some minor adjustments to make for Tuesday's game but overall great effort by the team. We did get eight penalties so we do need to take care of that and stay out of the box as we move forward. But we played four solid quarters and we have a lot to be proud of today."

Alex Woolbert, Brad Jones, John Sartell, Bob Wardswell, Devon Woolbert, Connor Beebe each picked up a goal for the Warriors and Kevin Doherty finished with three assists. Goalie Sam Bridges finished with 10 saves. 

Up next for Wakefield is big Middlesex League showdown on the road against Belmont on Tuesday at 5 p.m.
