The Wakefield High boys basketball team proved a point Friday night, defeating potent Reading High at Hawkes Field House in convincing fashion.
The Wakefield Warriors boys basketball team picked up a huge win against Reading, handing the Rockets their first back-to-back loss of the year while bouncing back from a loss to Lexington their last time out, on Jan. 24.
Reading lost its second game in a row on Friday night, as visiting Wakefield was able to secure a 59-48 victory at Hawkes Field House, thanks, in large part, to the efforts of freshman forward Bruce Brown.
The Rockets fell to Stoneham on the road Jan. 24 in heartbreaking fashion, 50-49.

Brown tallied 18 points and 15 rebounds to lead the Warriors, who also enjoyed a 38-32 edge on the glass against Reading.
Senior captain Keyon Armstrong posted 12 points, while junior captain Kendall Hamilton collected 12 points as well.

Reading led 16-6 early, but Wakefield quickly recovered and battled back for a 34-22 halftime advantage.
The Rockets never got within eight points in the second half and Wakefield cruised to victory.
Reading is now 10-3 overall and still perfect in the Middlesex League Large at 5-0. Wakefield is 9-4 overall and 3-2 in the ML Small.
