Police Log, July 21: Boat Rescue on Lake Quannapowitt

The following information was supplied by the Wakefield Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Police Log, July 21 (selective list):

10:20 a.m. - A parking ticket was given to a vehicle blocking a bus stop on Albion Street.

10:28 a.m. - A deceased cat was found in the road on Lowell Street. The animal control officer was contacted.

10:30 a.m.- Police patrolling the area of Salem Street and Lowell Street gave a written warning to a motorist.

11:37 a.m. - Police patrolling the area of Nahant Street and Harding street gave one verbal warning to a motorist.

1:08 p.m. - A Woburn woman will be summoned to court on charges that she was operating an unregistered vehicle. Police said they observed the woman operating a older model Saturn in the area of Muriel Ave in Wakefield. A query on the license plate revealed the vehicle was unregistered and uninsured. The vehicle was towed from the scene. "I shouldn't have driven it," the woman told police, according to the report.

1:14 p.m. - Two boats overturned while sailing on Lake Quannapowitt. The boats were righted and the individuals were helped out of the water by fire and action and the Quannapowitt Yacht Club. No one was injured in the incident.

3:07 p.m. - A man who came into the police station to report a disturbance was determined to have an oustanding warrant and was arrested. Shaun Gaessler, 25, of 16 Chestnut Street in Wakefield, was arrested in the police station.

4:25 p.m. - Police responded to Avon Street for a report of a landscaping company leaving debris in the street. The company, Mike's Landscaping from Malden, MA, agreed to clean up the debis.

4:38 p.m. - While patrolling the area of Albion Street and West Park Drive, Wakefield police wrote one ticket for speeding, and one for an expired inspection sticker.

5:55 p.m. - Police were called to Water Street for a report of an individual dumping antifreeze into the street. The fire department responded, and found the substance to be car wash, not antifreeze.

6:33 p.m. - A Wakefield resident found a cell phone on the sidewalk near his house and turned it in to the station.

7:19 p.m. - Police issued a verbal warning to a motorist while patrolling Richardson Ave and Foster Street.
