Signs Help Support Wakefield Warrior Club Activities

The following was provided by the Wakefield Warrior Club:

The Wakefield Warrior Club, Inc. has received permission from the Wakefield Board of Selectmen and Department of Public Works to temporarily place their advertising signs at Vets Field during Landrigan Field construction.

The signs are a source of revenue for the Warrior Club, which is a non profit organization dedicated to the betterment of football in the Town of Wakefield. Each year local businesses pay a fee to the Warrior Club to have their businesses advertised at Landrigran Field throughout the course of the year. Had the Board of Selectmen and Department of Public Works not approved the temporary location, the Warrior Club would have owed refunds to the businesses you see advertised.

Over the years, the sign revenue has helped pay $9,000 towards coaching stipends, $2,500 toward the Chris Herren presentation that was enjoyed many residents in town and most importantly the upkeep and maintenance of Landrigan Field and its buildings at tune of approximately $5,000 over three years. 

“The Warrior Club helps fund coaches that the Town of Wakefield does not have monies for as well maintain and purchase equipment for the weight at Wakefield High School,” said Town Administrator Stephen Maio. “The Board of Selectmen all believed that this temporary location was suitable for the Warrior Club so they did not have to refund any of their advertisers.”

The signs will be maintained by the Warrior Club until the project at Landrigan Field is completed. At that time, a new permanent home will be found for the signs. 

“We appreciate the Board of Selectman’s understanding and willingness to work with us during the construction,” said John Roberto of the Warrior Club. He went on to say, “the businesses that advertise with us are thrilled that their signs will have continued exposure during the construction and they look forward to their new home at the improved Landrigan Field. I personally appreciate the help of Rick Stinson and Steve Maio in presenting this location to the Selectman and the Selectman for their quick approval.”
