Sons & Daughters of Italy Celebrate Italian Heritage Month

Happy Columbus Day 2020 from the Wakefield Lodge!

Here are some suggestions from the Wakefield Sons & Daughters of Italy Lodge #1732 for how everyone can celebrate and recognize October as Italian Heritage month:

  • Learn “fun facts” about Raviolis on the CucinaVenti blog. Next, cook your own or order from one of the area’s many wonderful Italian restaurants. Enjoy!
  • Sample one or more lovely Italian wines.
  • Try making a new Italian dessert recipe found on FoodandWine.com. Share it with your family or friends.
  • Wear green, white and red clothing.
  • Listen to OSDIA “Christopher Columbus Special” on Facebook with two Columbus experts, anthropologist Carol Delaney and author Rafael Ortiz. Italian voyager Columbus has recently been accused of negative acts. These experts explain that these accusations are actually inaccurate.

The next meeting will be held for a limited number of attendees on Tuesday, October 13 at Laurie’s 909. Attendees must have RSVP’d already, and wear a mask. For those who would like to “attend” via Zoom, please contact Paula Sasso (pscrusader78@gmail.com) for details. Start time will be 7:00 p.m.
