Sons & Daughters of Italy Support Local Charities

The Order Sons & Daughters of Italy in America Wakefield Lodge enjoyed a visit from members of the Doug Flutie, Jr. Foundation for Autism.

The June meeting, Liz Monroe, Director of Marketing, and Stefano Micali one of their ambassadors, entertained and informed members about the Foundation. Stefano performed both an Italian aria and an original song that he wrote and composed. We learned that the Foundation provides career and life goals support and even has a choir! The Wakefield Lodge presented a check to our Flutie Foundation visitors. We are proud that for the last 25 years, the Grand Lodge of Massachusetts and its affiliates have supported this valuable organization.

In the spirit of supporting our community, the Lodge held a drive for new sheets and towels for the Mission of Deeds in Reading. We were pleased to see how the Wakefield members came together to support individuals and families who, for unforeseen circumstances, must rebuild their lives. The bags and boxes of white goods filled two vehicles to capacity!

Tuesday bocce will continue, weather permitting, at the Stoneham Senior Center at 6:00 p.m. It’s a casual, “drop-in” activity and a good time for everyone who attends.
