The Sons and Daughters Resume Meetings With a Meatball Bakeoff
Members from Wakefield and the surrounding towns taste tested some of the best meatballs around.
And the winner is… Everyone at the March Wakefield Sons and Daughters of Italy gathering who enjoyed a variety of 10 different meatball recipes. Some members/contestants made them the way they learned from their families. Others from a cookbook or based on their instincts. It truly smelled wonderful at the West Side Social Club on March 12. Other members contributed to the night by making or bringing a selection of fantastic desserts. The judges decided that the best meatballs were made by members Carolyn and Annemarie. All in all, it made for a wonderful meeting.
Our next meeting will be the second Tuesday in April where will hear an inspirational story about living with Cooley’s Anemia, a genetic blood disorder, most often found in people of Mediterranean descent. Cooley’s Anemia research is a cause the Lodge donates towards annually. Thanks to research, individuals with the disorder are living longer, fuller lives than years ago.
We’ve seen a growth in membership over the past year. If you are curious about our lodge, what we stand for, how we have fun and give back to the community, you are invited to drop into a meeting or two with no obligation to join. Another option is to check out our Facebook page. If you want to speak with someone about the lodge, email President Paula.
