Still Time to Shop For School Supplies in Wakefield
The school district has listed the school supplies you should pick up before the first day of school on Sept. 8.
The region is just getting over its first heat wave of the summer, but that isn’t stopping the first day of school from being closer than you think.
In Wakefield, the first day of school for grades 1 through 12 is Tuesday, Sept. 8.
Kindergarten and pre-K students get one extra day of summer vacation and begin their school year on Wednesday, Sept. 9.

The school district has an online list of recommended school supplies for grades K through 8, as well as special lists for art supplies, language for grades 6 through 8, and technology, engineering, and STEM supplies for grades 7 and 8.
Some of the supplies listed for kindergarten include 1 box of Crayola fat crayons, two packages of glue sticks, and one package of eight markers.

Moving up to grade 8, some of the listed supplies include a binder and divider for English class and pencils, highlighters, and index cards for multiple subjects.
