Take The Lake Sunday And Help Fight Cancer

Feel like starting your Sunday with a little exercise? Then head over to Lake Quannapowitt for the 18th annual Take The Lake 5k road race and walk.

Registration starts at 7 a.m. with the road race going off at 8:30. Feel like a slower pace? Then sign up for the walk, which starts just after the road race. Either way it costs $30 with the proceeds going to ESSCO-MGH, an organization that funds breast cancer research at the Mass General Hospital. Since the race started, more than 6,000 people have participated and raised almost $250,000.

There will be refreshments after the race and water along the course.
