Wakefield Boys Will Face Malden Catholic Saturday
Warriors one of only two undefeated lacrosse teams in entire state tournament.
After an 18-0 regular season that included the Middlesex League title, the Wakefield boys earned the top seed Friday in the MIAA Division 2 North lacrosse tournament. Wakefield and Sacred Heart in the Division 3 South tournament are the only undefeated teams in the entire state lacrosse tournament field.
Wakefield gets a first round bye into the quarterfinals where they'll play No. 8 seed Malden Catholic (9-10) on Saturday at 5 p.m. MC beat Danvers, 11-2, in Wednesday's first round.
With a win, Wakefield will get another shot at a Middlesex League rival with Melrose (11-7) and Burlington (12-6) playing in another quarterfinal. The No. 2 seed in the tournament is another Middlesex school, Winchester (12-6).
