Wakefield Drug Bust Leads to Seizure of Over $28k, Hundreds of Pills: Police
Police say officers discovered thousands in cash and pills in a "drug hide" in the suspect's vehicle.

WAKEFIELD, MA — Lauding the work of Officer John Waley, the Wakefield Police Department announced via Facebook Thursday the arrest of a Methuen after detectives found $28,000 and 200 Oxycodone pills in his vehicle.
Erick Delrosario, 25, was charged with drug trafficking and possession with intent to distribute a Class B substance. Police say that the drugs and pills were found in a "drug hide" located behind the center console of Delrosario's vehicle.
“This was outstanding work by Officer Whaley which resulted in another large scale drug dealer being taken off of our streets," Chief Rick Smith said in a statement."We also would like to thank both the Danvers and Everett Police Departments for their tremendous assistance with this case.”

On Jan. 11, after noticing two men at a Salem Street gas station behaving nervously, Whaley noticed a man enter a Honda Accord and exit after a short period, and sped off heading south on Rte. 128, with another vehicle heading east on Salem Street, according to police. Officers stopped both vehicles, and further investigation by Whaley lead to him locating large bundles of cash totaling over $6,000.
K-9 units searched the Accord, which was held at the police department until officers could secure a warrant, according to police. After a search, Delrosario was arrested and recently arraigned in Malden District Court, according to police.
