Wakefield Finishes 8th In All-State Cross-Country
Rohan Singhvi's 25th-place finish tops for Warriors.

Led by Rohan Singhvi's 25th-place finish, Wakefield finished in eighth place in the Division 1 team standings at the MIAA All-State cross-country championships Saturday in Wrentham. It was the first year competing in Division 1 for the Warriors.
Singhvi crossed the line in 16:16.85 over the 5k course. He was followed by Tommy Lucey in 60th at 16:40.19, Matt Greatorex in 63rd at 16:43.76, and Matt Roberto 93rd in 17:01.93. Other Wakefield finishers included Billy Stevens 112th in 17:15.19, Casey Brackett in 139th place at 17:36.95 and Riley Brackett 149th in 17:43.73.
St. John's (S) finished first in the team standings with 81 points. Individually, St. John's Prep's Tristan Shelgren took top honors in the race in 15:15.82.. Lowell (104) was second with Wellesley (116) third. Wakefield finished with 267 points, just a point ahead of Mansfield.

For the Warriors it was a day of mixed emotions as the team learned that retired longtime coach John "Deke" DiComandrea passed away on Friday. He was 89.
