Two Wakefield residents were indicted by a grand jury according to District Attorney Marian Ryan, who announced the indictments Wednesday.Jean Baguidy, 40, was charged with trafficking over 18 grams of oxycodone. In addition, Daniel Emero, 33, was charged with possession of a Class A substance and armed robbery. These charges are allegations and the defendents are presumed innocent until proven guilty.

The fee for elected officials or candidates in the parade is $750 and must be paid in full by June 10, 2026. The fee can be a check to the Wakefield Independence Day Committee (WIDC) or use the Donate Now button on the website. Elected Officials and Candidates for the November Elections (primaries and main) are invited to walk in Wakefield’s July 4th
Parade. 
The July 4th Parade has been a Wakefield signature event since 1922. In 1950, John F. Kennedy, as a U.S. Representative, walked in the parade! In 1991 the Wakefield Independence Day Committee (WIDC) was created as a non-profit organization to continue “The Biggest and Best July 4th Parade in Massachusetts” welcoming participants and spectators from near &amp; far. 
 Policies: Up to 10 supporters per elected official/candidate can walk in the group along the 2-mile parade route (see website) and are expected to keep moving. The group (or someone from the group) must check-in at the parade check-in tent at Lakeside Business Park by 3:00 p.m. All access to North Ave is closed at 3:00 p.m. No parking is available. Parking and shuttles are available at MG Fitness on Broadway Street. See separate info sheet for details. The group needs to provide own banner, pole, and carriers. No slogans are allowed on the banner and supports may not carry individual signs. Absolutely no candy or literature can be handed out along the parade route. The parade route is two miles. No vehicles are allowed for elected officials or candidates. Exceptions are rare and are made with the WIDC well in advance of parade day.

Join us under the summer sky for an evening of patriotic favorites, stirring marches, and Broadway and big-band classics as we mark the nation’s 250th birthday — featuring vocalist April Foley and a rousing sing-along finale.
The concert takes place on the lawn beside the clubhouse at Mt. Hood, the City of Melrose’s public golf course.
