Wakefield Releases Holiday Schedule For Trash, Recycling

The town has released details on the trash and recycling schedule as well as what's opened and closed on New Year's.

WAKEFIELD, MA — Please make note of some important dates as we wind down 2023 and welcome 2024.

Town Hall
• December 25 and 26: closed.
• January 1: closed.

• December 23, 24, and 25: closed.
• December 31 and January 1: closed.

Town of Wakefield Council on Aging Senior Center
• December 25 and 26: closed.
• January 1: closed.

Refuse and Recycling Collection
Although Town Hall is closed on Dec. 26, Republic will still be collecting refuse and recycling that day. The week will follow a holiday schedule, with Monday’s collection moving to Tuesday, Tuesday’s collection to Wednesday, and so on. The week of January 1 will also follow a holiday schedule.

Curbside collection for live Christmas trees will take place the weeks of Jan. 8 and Jan. 16 on residents’ scheduled recycling days. All lights, ornaments, tree stands, and other decorations must be removed. Trees wrapped in plastic cannot be recycled and will not be collected.
