Wakefield Sons and Daughters of Italy Celebrate St. Joseph’s Day

Article updated 3/27/20

Recently the Wakefield lodge gathered for their March meeting at Laurie’s 909. The group learned about the history of St. Joseph’s Day. It is Father’s Day in some countries, because according to the Bible, Joseph was the step-father to Jesus. St. Joseph, or San Giuseppe, was credited with preventing a famine in Sicily. Today, feasts are celebrated in his honor on March 19. The lodge celebrated by feasting on the Italian pastries; Zeppolis.

UPDATE: April meeting has been cancelled. The cancelled plans included a pizza bake-off contest.
