Wakefield Sons & Daughters of Italy Had a Buon Natale
The Lodge gathered in December for their annual party, to serve a meal and to pack care baskets.
December was another busy month at the Wakefield Sons & Daughters of Italy. It started with a traditional Christmas party meal of Chinese food from Jade Gourmet restaurant, dessert and a brief meeting at the West Side Social Club. We had a visit from Santa this year and everyone got a special chocolate treat (thank-you Mike Tallo). Also, members played Italian bingo called Tombula hosted by Anna King and Rose Finn. Prizes were awarded to three winners. Several special guests were in attendance, including Rudy Viscomi, State President and his wife Lilia, Kevin and Cheryl Caira, Matt Ezekial Florence Guidara and Nora. Paula acknowledged Cheryl Caira with a holiday gift thanking her for all her contributions to the Lodge though out the year. In addition, Toni presented Paula with a gift as well, thanking her for her endless support. Everyone enjoyed visiting because the Lodge will not meet formerly again until March.
As in previous years, the Lodge worked with the Wakefield Council of Clubs to pack and deliver care baskets to members of the community. It’s wonderful how several local groups come together to work on this project. Also this year, some members had the honor of serving a pre-Christmas dinner to local veterans at the Wakefield Senior Centerw. This was a new event for the Lodge, and they thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon.
