Wakefield Sons and Daughters of Italy Install New Officers
Tuesday Bocce Dates Announced
The Sons and Daughters of Italy in Wakefield are pleased to announce their officers for the next two years. For a second term, Adriana Guida and Laurie Rizzo will continue as President and Vice President respectively, Paula Sasso remains the Immediate Past President, and Tracy Vincent will continue in the role of Treasurer. Jim Marino was newly installed as Financial Secretary.
Many members were elected as first-time officers, including Debbie Trombley as Orator, Carolyn Faria, and Rosemarie Finn as Trustees, Rosemary Sarcia as Mistress of Ceremonies, and Diana Ayers as Guard. Several dedicated members will continue in their roles including Pat Ectman as Mistress of Ceremonies, and Don Hart, Domenic Grande, and Joanne Szczesuil as Trustees.
Any member of the community is invited to attend a meeting to see what the Sons and Daughters of Italy do as an organization. Members can be of Italian or other descent and come from Wakefield as well as many other communities. Our next meeting will be on Tuesday, July 9 at Laurie’s 909 in Wakefield. The Lodge will also have a booth at the upcoming Wakefield Festival Italia on Saturday August 24.

Over the summer, the Lodge will host Bocce Tuesdays at the Stoneham Senior Center. The community is invited to join Lodge members on June 18 (cancelled due to weather) and 25, and July 16, 23, and 30 starting at 6:00 PM. Anyone looking to learn how to play the game can join members at 5:30 for a lesson. Snacks and spectators are welcome, and there is no cost to join in the fun. Weather related cancelations will be posted on the Lodge Facebook page.
Special thanks go out to generous community businesses for donating gift cards or items for the Lodge’s annual charity auction. These businesses include Professor’s Market and Calareso’s Farm Stand of Reading, The Daily Scoop and Perfect 10 Nail Salon, of Stoneham, Future of Dentistry, Honey Dew Donuts on the lake, and Laurie’s 909 and Keith’s Tree Removal of Wakefield. The auction funds the Lodge’s scholarships for graduating high school seniors as well as other charitable donations to the community and beyond.
