Wakefield's Montrose Avenue Gas Main Repair
The Wakefield Fire Department, Police Department, and WMGLD personnel immediately responded.

According to the Wakefield Municipal Gas and Light Department (WMGLD), a United Civil crew working on Montrose Ave dug in to a 4” intermediate pressure gas main at approximately 9:30 a.m. this morning. No one was injured. The Wakefield Fire Department, Police Department, and WMGLD personnel immediately responded. The leak was isolated by 11 a.m. with no significant property damage and repairs have been underway since then. Repairs should be completed by 3 p.m. this afternoon.

There was no loss of service to any homes or businesses, although four homes were evacuated as a precaution by the Fire Department. Everyone has been allowed to return to their homes and no one will be without gas. United Civil’s work has been shut down on Montrose Ave., pending further investigation. A dig safe markout was completed on the street and the marks appear to be accurate.
