Rainy conditions scuttled much of the Warrior athletic schedule this week, but it wasn’t a complete washout. Wakefield High student athletes were able to get in many of the games planned for last week. Here’s the rundown.

The Wakefield girls next competed at the Nashua Invitational, and turned in a respectable performance, finishing seventh out of 20 teams.

Rachel Wong won the 200 meter hurdles for the Lady Warriors, posting a time of 27.6 seconds.

“I could not have been more proud of the way the girls showed up to compete at this meet,” said Wakefield head coach Karen Barrett. “The girls that competed today all worked hard to meet the qualifying standards and we were all very proud of the team for placing seventh.”

Boys and girls tennis falter

The Wakefield girls were swept by Burlington this past week, while the boys met the same fate at the hands of the Red Devils.
