Highway Accident Sends Driver, State Trooper to Hospital With Minor Injuries

A vehicle struck the rear of a Massachusetts State Police cruiser on Rte. I-95 on the Walpole-Sharon town line at around 12:20 p.m. Thursday.

Troopers assigned to the Massachusetts State Police Foxborough Barracks responded to a motor vehicle crash involving a passenger and a Massachusetts State Police Cruiser on Rte. I-95 North near Exit 10 for Coney Street on the Walpole-Sharon town line.

A state trooper was inside the cruiser within a detail setup in the area, according to preliminary reports from Massachusetts State Police Thursday. The second vehicle reportedly lost control, entered the detail setup and struck the rear of the cruiser, though state police are investigating the reason why the car lost control.

The trooper involved in the accident was transported by ambulance to Boston Medical Center with minor injuries. The operator of the second vehicle was transported by ambulance to Norwood Hospital with minor injuries.
