Walpole's Matt Lavanchy Earns D3 Third Team Baseball Honors
The Wheaton College baseball team had five players named to the New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association teams.

The Wheaton College baseball team, ranked no.15 overall in the latest D3baseball.com national poll, had five student-athletes, including Walpole's Matt Lavanchy, named to the New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA) team.
Shortstop Eric Jensen was named to the first team, closer Ryan Grant to the second team, while catcher Dan Gusovsky, pitcher Frank Holbrook and Lavanchy were picked for the third team.
A freshman second baseman, Lavanchy has a slash line of .359/.422/.517 alongside 30 runs, eight doubles, six triples, one home run, 27 RBI, 12 walks and 10 stolen bases. Lavanchy ranks 12th nationally in triples and 36th overall in triples per game. In just one season, Lavanchy is tied for seventh all-time in triples. Jason Hoye (Class of 2000) holds the all-time record with 15 triples.
