Solar Panels Proposed for Bird Machine Property

A Chicago-based company is proposing a solar plant of about 20,000 panels for the 22-acre property.

Could the former Bird Machine property see new life as a solar plant? Chicago-based Urban Green Technologies is proposing a plan that would see about 20,000 panels on the 22-acre property. The solar array would produce about 6 million kilowatt hours annually according to Boston Globe.

Approved by the Conservation Commission, the Planning Board is reviewing the proposal, which will need the approval of Town Meeting.

Town Administrator James Johnson said the proposal would likely receive a vote at the fall Town Meeting.
