Business Spotlight: Christopher Limousine Brings Yesterday's Cars on Tomorrow's Roads in Walpole

Walpole Patch spoke with Eleanor Slye about Christopher Limousine, a business she and her husband, Christopher, own here in Walpole.

Patch: How long have you and your husband been in business?

Eleanor Slye (ES): We have been in business for 20 years. Our goal was always to bring yesterday's cars on tomorrow's roads. My husband Chris is somewhat of a car nut so we decided to take his passion and make a business out of it. Thus Christopher Limosine came to be.

Patch: Can you tell our readers about your fleet and drivers?

ES: Our unique fleet consists of five antique cars, a 1937 Packard 75 series Touring Limousine, a 1940 Buick 90 series Touring Limousine, 1940 Packard Sedan (which will be available in the Spring 0f 2013), 1937 Cadillac Fleetwood and a 1959 Silver Cloud Rolls Royce.

The Limousine Group includes: a Hybrid Stretch Tahoe that can hold 14 guests and is great for ourenvironment, Charger Limousine, Chrysler 300 Limousine, and two Tiffany Lincoln limousines we also offer trolley's and mini buses through our sister company and of course sedans or better known as black car service to and from Logan and tfgreen for the corporate traveler

Patch: What (if any) amenities are your vehicles equipped with?

ES: All of our cars offer different amenities. We have fully loaded stretch limousines with full fiber optic packages, which includes bar lights, ceiling lights, lightning discs, lava lamps and disco lights. But all can be controlled by the client. You can also have a quiet elegant ride playing soft music with a crackling fireplace dvd. Or the car can be transformed into a night club atmosphere with a flip of a few switches. Some of the unique features we have for our antique cars would be our Rolls Royce, which is right hand British drive and our Packard has a snap off sunroof.

Patch: Do you offer any special wedding packages?

ES: All of our wedding packages are three hours. Most weddings run 2 to 2 1/2 hours so by giving you a three-hour package, you allow a buffer for any unforseen things that could use more time without being charged overtime. We normally start this three-hour package at our first pick up, some locations do incur a travel time if they are further than 30 minutes from our garage. There are customized packages as well for people who may need more time.

Patch: Do you offer any special group discounts for contracting multiple vehicles?

ES: When reserving your wedding day cars we have tried to make it as easy as possible to find everything you need with Christopher Limousine. We encourage reserving multiple cars if needed so we can offer discounts on package pricing. 

Patch: Is there a minimum amount of rental time that is required?

ES: This varies with each wedding so we do try to work with all situations. We recommend coming to our open house every Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon to meet with a wedding specialist to see exactly what you may need for your wedding day transportation.

Patch: Do you charge for travel time and is there an overtime rate?

ES: We always allow free 30-minute travel to and from locations from our garage. There are some locations that are further away that do require a nominal travel fee to cover gas and chauffeurs time. 

Our overtime rates vary on what car is being hired but they are all inclusive, which means they include gas and chauffeur tip so after three hours use this will go into effect unless you have hired us for a longer package.

Patch: What makes Christopher Limousine the best choice for wedding day transportation?

ES: We provide one of the newest fleets in New England. We have the first in the world Hybrid Tahoe limousine, which is an environmently friendly car. Our selection selection of classic cars have been completely done over so they all have air conditioning. We also have a fine selection of brand new limousines like the Traditional Lincoln Limousines but also very unique ones like our Dodge Charger Limousine and our Chrysler 300 Limousine.

We even offer airport service to T.F.Green Airport and Logan Airport for long distance guests flying in for the wedding and/or honeymoon transportation. Another service we offer is the "get away" car to pick up the bride and groom after their reception and take them to their hotel or destination, we do offer limousine service for guests after reception also.

The 1940 Packard was originally owned by a company that Slye used to drive for before owning his own company. His former boss sold the car and coincidentally Slye answered an ad for a 1940 Packard that was for sale out in the San Francisco area. It turned out to be his former boss' car. The Packard is the newest addition to the Slye fleet.
