Walpole Firefighter Dies

The department has announced the passing of Ryan Ferreira.

WALPOLE, MA - The Walpole Fire Department lost one of their own Monday.

Tuesday morning, the department announced that firefighter Ryan Ferreira had passed away on April 25 after suffering a medical emergency. Ferreira was a member of the third shift.

"Keep his family in your thoughts and prayers," Walpole fire wrote on Twitter.

The past few days have not been the best for public safety officials in Walpole. On Sunday, two police officers were sent to the hospital after they were injured by a firehose.

The Walpole Fire Department has established a memorial fund for Ferreira and to help his family with various expenses. To donate, drop off a check at the department or mail it to the Firefighter Ryan Ferreira Memorial Fund, C/o Rockland Federal Credit Union, 657 Main St., Walpole, MA 02081. Donors are asked to not mail cash.
