Walpole-raised dancer comes back to perform with NYC-based company, Jessica Lang Dance
Walpole-raised dancer Julie Fiorenza trained in Norwood and at the Boston Ballet before starting her career as an international dancer.
When New York-based company Jessica Lang Dance makes their Boston debut January 27-28 presented by the Celebrity Series of Boston at the Boch Shubert Theatre, they will be bringing hometown dancer, Julie Fiorenza.
Fiorenza, born in South Korea and raised in Walpole, began her dance training at the Academy of Dance Artsin Norwood before studying at the Boston Ballet. After moving to NYC and graduating from The Ailey School & Fordham University with honors, Julie has performed throughout the country as a member of Ailey II, Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company and Adams Company Dance. She has danced at the Metropolitan Opera in its productions of Turandot and Mark Morris' Orfeo ed Euridice. She has performed with the Mark Morris Dance Group in the television debut of L'Allegro which aired in 2015 on Great Performances.
She joined the Jessica Lang Dance company as a founding member and has since brought to life a number of choreographer Jessica Lang's works. When she performs in Boston, in addition to the larger pieces with the full company, Julie will also dance solo in Lang's iconic The Calling, a one-woman piece called "surreal" and "heavenly" by critics.
