The Wheaton College baseball team opened up the season with a 17--1 win Saturday on Long Island. Walpole's Matt Lavancy made his collegiate debut at second base, driving in three runs.

In his collegiate debut, Walpole's Matt Lavanchy went 3 for 4, scoring twice, getting two walks and driving in three runs as Wheaton College claimed a 17-1 victory over St. Joseph’s (Long Island) in its 2013 season opener on Saturday afternoon at Alfano Field in Patchogue.
