Walpole Voters Choose Gomez Over Markey

Gabriel Gomez carried Walpole with 60% of the vote.

Unlike the majority of Massachusetts voters, Walople residents preferred Republican candidate Gabriel Gomez over Democratic candidate Congressman Ed Markey in the special primary for the U.S. Senate.

Unofficially, Gomez beat Markey 60%-40%. Third party candidate Richard Heos received 29 votes. No Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate has carried Walople since John Kerry in 2008.

4,719 residents came out to vote in the election which equals a turnout rate of about 27.8%
