This weekend looks like it could be a washout in Walpole, or at the very least, not a stellar beach weekend.

The current forecast indicates showers and thunderstorms are likely Friday through Sunday, into early next week.

A slow-moving front will stall over the region Friday into Saturday, bringing scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms with locally heavy rainfall, according to the National Weather Service.

Highs will dip into the low 80s, providing relief after this week’s heat wave. Additionally, pollen counts, which have been extremely high this week, will also decrease due to the cooler temperatures and wet weather. They’ll continue to be high through Saturday, before dropping to moderate levels on Sunday.

Allergy Sufferers Beware: High Pollen Counts Expected This Week

Here’s a look at the local weekend forecast:

  • Friday: Variable cloudiness with scattered thunderstorms Friday and a high of 81. Friday night more scattered thunderstorms and a low of 66.
  • Saturday: Cloudy in the morning, with thunderstorms developing later in the day with a high of 79. Thunderstorms are likely Saturday night with a low around 65.
  • Sunday: More clouds and thunderstorms, especially in the afternoon Sunday with a high of 78. A few isolated thunderstorms are in the forecast for Sunday night with a low of 65.

Next week is looking like it may be off to a soggy start with scattered thunderstorms in the forecast for Monday and Tuesday, according to forecasters.
