5 Things To Know This Week In Waltham
Good morning and welcome to a new week. Here's what you should know.

WALTHAM, MA — Good morning, and welcome to a new week. As you commute to work or wonder what's happening around town, here are a few things to know as the week gets into gear.
- Weather: Monday watch for a high of 34 degrees in the Watch City, and The National Weather Service predicts Tuesday and Wednesday will be warmer with a high of 42 on Wednesday and then sunny, but cold skies on Thursday before possible snow comes Friday and the possibility for snow sticks around through the weekend and the temps go down.
- Local Government: At the Waltham City Council meeting Monday night, the council is set to chose a new council president and vice president. Currently Diane LeBlanc is president and Robert Logan is vice president.
- Happening at the Library:
- Wish You Would Hear: 1,000 Postcards for the Planet is a visual art project designed to engage and educate people about climate change.
- How To Self Publish Like A Pro: New York Times bestseller Julia Kent will give tips on how she sold more than 2 million books and published her own books.
- Last chance to get rid of that Christmas Tree: Trees must be placed curbside before Sunday, Jan. 20. You can also drop-off your tree at two spots:
- Nipper Maher Park (65 Dartmouth Street, South St Entrance)
- Cornellia Warren Field (210 Waverley Oaks Rd)
- Sports: The Waltham Hawks have a few games this week;
- Boys and Girls Varsity Indoor Track will be at the Reggie Lewis Center against Boston Latin at 4 p.m. Wednesday,
- Girls Freshman basketball have a 3 p.m. game at Belmont High, Thursday,
- Boys Freshmen basketball have a 4 p.m. game at Bedford High on Friday.
- Boys Varsity wrestling is headed to Georgetown Saturday at 10 a.m.
