I recently broke my own rule of never commenting on articles in the media and, when I did, I was immediately reminded why I don't. It usually takes about three comments and then the commentary gets hateful. I did learn some very interesting things:
- Typing in all capital letters remains popular as a way of trying to be seen on the screen
-Fitz Fightforce is an awesome name and I may present it as an alternative to our rather tame "Panther" mascot
- Haters gonna keep hating
- Apparently, my avatar is a young 'housemaker' who sits on the couch all day posting on the Patch
- The best way to begin a comment is with a sentence like "I have lived in Waltham for 25 years" or "As a lifelong Waltham resident..."
Having said all of that, I am heartened by the concerned parents who are followingalong and who are, as I am, hopeful that this over-reaction may actually bring changes to communication between parents and the School Committee and transparency to process. I am thankful to @Lauren for pointing out that the issue at the center of all of this is a serious overcrowding issue at our elementary schools, which will take creativity and bold, intelligent planning to manage to the benefit of all of the city's children.
