Bentley lacrosse team to play in ninth annual Northeast Classic Lacrosse Tournament, Oct. 11

Event benefits cancer research and care at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute

Bentley University is among the 10 college men’s lacrosse teams will face off in scrimmages at Thayer Academy’s off-campus turf fields on Sunday, Oct. 11 at the 2015 Northeast Classic – Face Off Against Cancer, formerly the Catamount Classic. Proceeds from the event will support Dr. Mary-Ellen Taplin’s genitourinary cancers research at Boston’s Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, including testicular, prostate, and kidney cancers.

Additional participating teams are: Bishop’s University (Canada), College of the Holy Cross, Manhattan College, Sacred Heart University, University of Vermont, Southern New Hampshire University, College of Saint Rose, Babson College, and Emmanuel College. Each team will play at least two full-length scrimmages between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. The gates open at 7 a.m.

The tournament has raised nearly $200,000 since its inception.

The event will also feature a silent auction with more than $10,000 worth of donated prizes including American Airlines AAdvantage® miles, Red Sox autographed memorabilia, vacation packages, spa gift certificates, golf greens fees and more.
